Lower energy bills with energy-efficient replacement windows.

When it comes to home improvement projects, installing energy-efficient windows is towards the top of the list for cutting costs and saving on energy. As soon as you install energy-efficient windows in your household, you will more than likely begin to see a savings on your monthly utility bills. When your household becomes more airtight, and all conditioned air remains on the inside, your HVAC systems won’t have to work so hard to provide the comfort your family requires. With heating and cooling much less difficult, the savings begin to pile up.

The Best Energy-Efficient Windows

If you’re trying to realize the maximum savings from energy-efficient windows, you should probably consider installing either double-pane windows or triple-pane windows. Double-pane windows are equipped with two different panes of energy-efficient glass which will contribute to lower utility bills and greater comfort for your family members. If you’re trying not to break the bank with your replacement window insulation, double-pane windows are a good option, and you will still realize considerable savings.

Triple-pane windows have the same benefits as the double-pane windows would, but they also come equipped with another pane of low-E coated glass, to provide even greater energy efficiency. The vast majority of the sun’s ultraviolet rays will be blocked by this low-E coated glass, and that will permit your HVAC system to work much easier, and without straining. Drafts will be eliminated, and your home will be kept extremely comfortable, while you’re also saving money on energy bills.

Tax Credits

If you have decided to go ahead with a whole-house window replacement, you may be able to recoup part of that investment by applying for a federal tax credit. You don’t really even need to replace every window in your home, but one requirement is that the windows you do install must be Energy Star windows. The tax credit you receive will be a certain percentage of the cost of your window replacements, and that can make the purchase price much more manageable.

How to Achieve the Biggest Savings

Homeowners who have single-pane windows installed will automatically get a major boost on energy efficiency by installing double-pane or triple-pane glass. Depending on where you live in the country, and what the climate is like in that region, you could save a ton of money by upgrading from single-pane to double-pane or triple-pane.
